Expert Tips in Obtaining an Accurate Quote For Solid Surface Countertops

10 January 2023

Choosing a new workbench may be difficult, replete with technical jargon and a wide range of worktops to consider. Solid surface worktops are among the most popular. Solid surface worktops are becoming the preferred choice for household worksurfaces due to their smooth lines and endless possibilities.

Even though there are other solid surfaces on the market, Corian, Staron, and Tempest are the industry leaders. In contrast to many less expensive surfaces on the market, the normal sheet thickness is 12mm thick acrylic polymer base with natural fillers such as quartz. As a result, these worksurfaces are sturdy enough to withstand even the worst home or work environment.

Factors That Damage Solid Surface Countertops

It splinters. However, it is no more than any other kitchen surface. All worktops scratch, but only with repeated usage, such as using it as a cutting surface. This is true of all kitchen worktops. However, the major advantage of solid surface worktops is their ease of maintenance. Most fabricators may give you a chopping board the same colour as your countertop, either for free or a nominal fee. Using this Chopping Board eliminates worktop scratches.

Hot pans cannot be placed on the Worksurface. While placing a red hot pan on any kitchen work surface is not recommended since it will blanch, discolour, or affect all worktops, Hob bars can be routed through solid surface worktops close to hobs or “staging zones” within the kitchen. This prevents colour blanching even in extremely hot pans. At this point, it is important to note that placing a very hot pan straight on any kitchen countertop may result in burn marks and colour blanching. To protect the surface, most manufacturers propose using pan supports and trivets. The main advantages of solid surfaces are that they are easily repairable, which means that if damage does occur, it can be rectified.

Measure for Your Kitchen Countertops

It would help if you had a fairly good idea of the size of your granite or quartz countertops project to get accurate quotes from various solid kitchen countertop fabricators. If you do not have this idea, you will not be able to get accurate quotes.

You are aware of the proverb that advises measuring something twice. Using a tape measure as your first measurement point for your brand-new kitchen countertops is an absolute must. In addition, you will require a pen, some paper on which a drawing has been drawn “to scale,” and a calculator. When you get to the point in your countertop renovation project where you have to make the final decisions, you won’t have as many unpleasant surprises if the measurements you took during the estimation phase were careful and accurate.

Create A Floor Plan for The Kitchen

A fabricator will need a plan or sketch of the worktop you intend to have made before they can provide you with an accurate price estimate. This enables the fabricator to determine details such as where on-site joints will be located and details of any potential obstructions that may need to be overcome before your worktop installation. Details such as these enable the fabricator to provide a more accurate estimate of the time required to complete your worktop installation.
